Vinny Appice

Vinny Appice started drumming when he was nine years old, taking lessons from the same teacher as his brother Carmine Appice. When he was sixteen Vinny met John Lennon, which led to his appearance on several Lennon recordings and live appearances at the New York Hilton. Since forming his own band, AXIS, in 1978, Vinny has anchored the rhythm and power live and in the studio for the music of Dio, Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell, WWIII, Rick Derringer, and more. Having recorded and co-written songs on over 25 albums and CDs, including many multi-platinum records, Vinny has toured the world for over two decades and his music has sold millions of records.

Vinny’s drumming can be heard on numerous movie soundtracks including Wayne’s World 2, Heavy Metal, Iron Eagle and Bedazzled. The author of the drum instruction book Rock Steady and the DVD Hard Rock Drumming Techniques, Vinny has performed at incredible powerhouse drum clinics around the globe. Numerous books have been written about Black Sabbath and Dio, with the authors always mentioning Vinny’s unique powerful drumming style!

Vinny first met Alex Santos in 2014, when he agreed to appear on Scar For Life’s fourth Studio album, World’s Entwined. Providing the drums on the album’s first track, Thirteen Revolution, Vinny’s unique style is instantly apparent.

“I would like to mention some of the boys that got my drumming blood flowing,” says Vinny, “… John Bonham, Buddy Rich, Billy Cobham, Mitch Mitchell … Thanks!”
